USING YOUR BACK BURNER In real life when we refer to the "back burner" we refer to the back burner on our cooking stove. Here is where most cooks put their meals that they want to cook slowly and that does not need much conscience attention. The back burner of your mind works in the same was as the back burner of a stove. While on low heat, the cooking process mixes, blends, and simmers the ingredients into a tasty meal. The way you prepared this meal was to throw the various ingredients into the pot, mix them up, and leave them alone. Often the less you interfere, the better the results. Whenever we need to solve many of life's problems the back burner is an excellent tool that we can use. We feed the back burner of our mind with a list of problems, facts, and possible solutions. Then just as when we make soup or a sauce, the thoughts and ideas we feed the back burner of our mind should be left alone to simmer properly. Your back burner is an excellent tool for remembering a fact or bringing forth an insight. It is my favorite method for relieving the tension involved with not being able to recall a well known fact. It is the most effortless yet effective way of using your mind when you might otherwise start feeling stressed out that I have found to date. By using your back burner you are allowing your mind to solve a problem while you are busy doing something else, here in the present moment. Try using the back burner when you are struggling to solve a problem or trying to bring out a well known fact such as someone's' name. Simply feed you subconscious with all the facts that you have on hand regarding the problem. Then put it all on the back burner. Be sure that the burner is on simmer. You don't want it to cook too fast or turn it off by mistake. You want to gently hold the problem in your mind without actively analyzing it. Just allow yourself to know that you are still in need of the solution, but not pushing yourself to seek the answer. This simple technique will help you solve many problems and will greatly reduce the stress and effort in your life.
