The Major Arcana can be one of the most difficult section of the Tarot to explain especially to a novice. Because it contains the mysteries of the soul and its purpose on earth, their meanings are not totally concrete. The major arcana is akin to the spiritual journey the soul takes, lessons to be learned, and higher spiritual experiences. Diametrically opposed to the mundane experiences of the journey through the minor arcana.

We will strive to learn the symbolism contained in the Rider Waite Deck that I have chosen to use as an example for this section. Credit for these beautiful cards so full of symbolism and life's energy always have and always will remain with the creator of the Rider Waite Deck, Arthur Edward Waite, and its designer/artist Pamela Coleman Smith.

I personally love Tarot Cards. Use them as a focal point in my meditations and collect as many of them as I can afford. I think the last time I moved I counted around 15 different decks in my collection.I do have favorite decks and when a symbol is unclear in any card, the Rider Deck, the old faithful stand-by always comes to the rescue.

Now that you know that the Major Arcana is highly spiritual, handle them with respect and always study them with Prayer. A Daily Prayer will always lift your thoughts to a higher level and opens the way for peace and comfort that comes when you enjoy a personal spiritual kinship with the energies of the Tarot.

As you can see by the size of the above table, this section will be quite large. If you thought that the Astrology section was big, this one will give the Astrology Pages a run for their money. You see this only shows the Major Arcana. The Minor Arcana the next section has 56 cards to be studied.
