Malkuth/Shekinah

Malkuth also known as "Shekinah".

God's Presence, Kingdom

The Shekinah is a Talmudic concept representing God's dwelling and immanence in the created world. It was equated with the personified spirit of the People of Israel. According to a Rabbinic tradition, the Shekinah shares in the exiles of the Jewish people.

Therefore, the redemption of the people of Israel is linked to the remedying of the alienation within God him/herself, introducing a bold new element into traditional Jewish Messianic philosophy.

It is through the Shekinah that humans can experience the Divine. She is said to be the female essence of "God".

The passivity of the Shekinah is often emphasized (equated with its femininity), as the recipient of forces from the higher Sephiroth.

In the Biblical sense she was seen as The Matriarch Rachel and sometimes as King David.

Primordial man imagined this essence to be found in the human Mouth. The Shekinah is often portrayed as a bride or princess whose male lover is the composite of the nine upper sephiroth, represented by the prince/bridegroom Tiphereth.

It is associated with the following Names of God:
