An aspect is the angular relationship between two points in the 360 degree wheel known as the zodiac. All the planets in a horoscope are located in the zodiac, and the angle between any two planets in degrees is called an aspect. The number of degrees is significant, and each angle as a particular meaning.

Sometimes two planets are in the same degree and this is known as an exact aspect. Most of the time, however, there is a difference between the two degrees and this is called an orb. The number of degrees between them is known as the orb of influence. Each aspect has an orb of influence to be considered active. Astrologers have not agreed on the exact orb degrees for each aspect, but most of them are close enough in their range that we can use as a standard.

The most used standard is: 5 to 8 degrees for most planets and 5 to 10 degrees for any aspect between the Sun and/or Moon and other planets..
